He was predeceased by: his parents, Von Edwards and Frosty Hilborn Edwards; his wife Mary Kate Edwards; and his siblings, Roger, Bobby, Willie, Edwin Edwards, Mable Strickland and Elsie McCarter.
He is survived by: his children, Sherry Edwards Tucker (Mark) of Rock Hill, SC, Rhonda Edwards Smith (Chuck) of Rock Hill, SC and John Vester Edwards, II of Rock Hill, SC; his grandchildren, Mark Alan Tucker, II, Erica Adkins, Madison Merritt, Hayley Mayfield and Chipper Smith; his siblings, Woodrow Edwards, Linda Cooke, Elizabeth Metts, Edna McClary and Shella Long; and his close friend Wanda Strickland. He is also survived by his nine great-grandchildren.
