He was predeceased by: his wife Jeanette Warrick Howell; his parents, John Dennis Howell and Bessie Clifton Howell; his son James Gregory Howell; his siblings, John Coy Howell, Raymond Howell, Walter Howell, James L. Howell, Mary Ellen Dockery, Margaret Shelton and Lucille Howell; and his half-brother Leonard Howell.
He is survived by: his sons, Gary Alan Howell and Thomas Keith Howell (Liz) of Haymarket, VA; his grandchildren, Rory Alan Howell, Gregory Brett Howell (Melissa) and Brendan James Howell (Taylor); and his great grandchildren, Brooke Ryleigh Howell and Brayden Sharpe Howell.
