He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Mitchum and Annie Elizabeth Shirah Brunson; his son Theodore Julius "Ted" Mitchum (Elizabeth); his wife Liz Murray; and his siblings, Elizabeth Mitchum and John Mitchum.
He is survived by: his children, Jean Mitchum Grooms (Marvin), Paula Mitchum Strobel (late Jim) and Edward Paul Mitchum (Julie); and his cousin Irene Poore. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a church or charity of one's choice.
