He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew L. Dantzler and Eleanor C. Dantzler; his daughter Karen Carlisle; his son-in-law Nathan; his brother Terry Dantzler; and his pet Sophie.

He is survived by: his son Andrew David "Dave" Dantzler II (Kim); his grandchildren, Ashley Hildebrand, Taylor Poole "Alexuis" and Abigail Poole; his great grandchildren, Ellie and Briella; his brothers, Johnny "Dot" Dantzler and Danny "Ruth" Dantzler; and his close friend Gwendolyn Looper. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
