He was predeceased by: his parents, Loyh Hester and Elizabeth Hamrick Royster; his former wives, Corneilous Poole and Rosalie Benz; his wife Barbara McAbee; his sons, Larry and Thomas Hester; and his siblings, Junior, Douglas Hester and Ruth Hester.
He is survived by: his children, Katherine McAbee (Larry) of Gaffney, Shirley Gulbranson (Douglas) of Wisconsin, Terry Hester of Gaffney, Edward Hester of Gaffney and Timothy Hester (Jackie) of Charleston, SC; his sister Glenda Dingus of Bessemer City, NC; and his niece Celeste Ruppe of Blacksburg.
