He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Pearson and Bessie Pearson; his daughter Tersa Nelson; and his sisters, Sandie Royal, Elouise Oglosby and Francis Pearson.
He is survived by: his wife Bertie Addison Pearson; his children, Sammie Pearson, Jr. (Margie), David Pearson (Jill Cataldo), Andrew Pearson (Geneva), Tyrone Pearson (Tiera), James Pearson (Tamika), Shirley Gee (Sandy) and Lillie Moses (Anthony) of Bishopville, SC; and his siblings, Henry Pearson (Willie Mae) of North Carolina, Woodrow Pearson (Ruth) of Bishopville and Bessie (Givens) of North Carolina. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
