She was predeceased by: her husband Walter R. Smith; and her parents, John Edward Legrand and Eula Peavy Legrand. She is survived by: her children, Charles W. Smith (Mary) of Bishopville, SC, John Warren Smith of Bishopville, SC, Beverly Smith of Bishopville, SC and Connie Teal of Gilbert, SC; and her sisters, Grace Partain and Pamela Rembert. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren.
