He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Dell Huggins Griggs; his great grandchild Zachary Kirkland; his son-in-law Gary Boykin Jr.; and his siblings, Mary Patience Griggs, Curtis Griggs and Hollis Griggs.
He is survived by: his children, Cynthia G. Boykin and Roffie D. Griggs; his sisters, Margaret Winburn and Virginia Barfield; and his siblings-in-law, Ann Elizabeth Griggs, Carolyn Hancock (Elbert) and Larry Huggins (Romell). He is also survived by five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to Memorial Chapel, 2509 Green Lane, Bishopville, SC 29010.
