He is survived by: his wife Charlie Mae Williams Gardner; his children, Matthew John Gardner of Pembroke, NC and Rebecca Lynn Gardner of McColl, SC; his stepdaughters, Demetria Abbey (Brent) of Graham, NC and Cindy Jackson of Bennettsville; his siblings, Billy Gardner (Linnie) of Mt. Croghan and Betty Lewis (Larry) of Mt. Croghan; his grandchildren, Matthew John Gardner, Jr., Steve Anthony Gardner and Dakota Austin Gardner; and his stepgrandchildren, Matthew Abbey, Blake O'Donnell, Christopher Jackson and Everleigh Hope Jackson.
