He was predeceased by: his parents, James "Pete" and Patricia Higgins Van Buren; and his sister Martha Randall. He is survived by: his siblings, Virginia McCollum, Vivian Kennedy (Oscar), James "Jerry" Van Buren (Tamala), Eleanor Feagin, Mary Garcia (Bano) and Eileen Dixon; his nephew Olen "Gene" Gay; and his great-nephew Devin Gay.
