Shandaya Jaqualine (Bunn) Holmes Obituary
Shandaya J. Bunn-Holmes was born on January 25, 1995, in Aiken, SC, to Michelle Lynn Saxon and James Oliver Bunn, Jr.
Affectionately called "Daya" she was a happy, outgoing child with a big personality and an even bigger smile. As a child, Daya was a "Pageant Princess". She traveled in and out of state to compete in pageants, was the winner of several crowns, and even traveled to Pittsburgh, PA, to be featured within the pageant calendar.
Shandaya was a very inquisitive child. She would ask questions about everything. She loved going to church and learning about the Lord. At a very young age, she became interested in music and singing. At age nine, she joined a children's quartet with her cousins, Khalil, Kevante, and Jermel called the Wee Travelers. She immensely enjoyed going to different churches and programs praising the Lord through song. Anytime she would sing, it would be her favorite song...."There's a Leak in This Old Building", by LaShun Pace.
Throughout her teenage years, Daya encountered several obstacles; however, she endured because she was resilient. Anything she faced, she took it on and handled it with strength. From enrolling back in school to obtain her GED, to recently being employed as Cricket Wireless in Orangeburg, she was proud and excited about the positive changes that she began implementing in her life. She didn't just have a job anymore, it was the start of a career and what she hoped would be a brand new life.
Shandaya was preceded in death by: her paternal grandfather, Oliver Bunn; and maternal grandparents, Frederick and Dorothy McCready.
On Saturday, March 25, 2023, Shandaya was called home to be with the Lord.
Shandaya leaves to cherish her memory: her husband: Traqez Holmes, Sr.; children: Shelton Bunn and Draya King; parents: Michelle L. Saxon and James O.
