He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard H. Smyly and Jeanette G. Smyly; his brother David Smyly; his stepdaughter Ashley Witherspoon; his sister-in-law Julie Jacobs; and his pet Hobo.
He is survived by: his wife Rhonda Smyly; his son Chandler Smyly (Kinsley Kinard); his sister Peggy Abbott; his stepson Blake Austin (Lindsay); his stepgrandsons, Cameron Austin, Cayson Austin, Banks Derrick and Austin Derrick; and his brothers-in-law, Todd Sumner (SuVonne) and Richard Jacobs.
