It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Earl Hiers (Barnwell, South Carolina), born in Hilda, South Carolina, who passed away on May 18, 2021, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Hiers and Mildred Hartzog Hiers; and his brother-in-law Dick Kittrell. He is survived by: his wife Gloria Croft Hiers; his children, James E. Hiers Jr. (Frances) of Barnwell, SC, Joey Lee Hiers Sr. of Barnwell, SC, Julie Hiers Gatlin (Robert) of Hilda, SC and Rachel Hiers (Dale) of Barnwell, SC; and his siblings, Ralph Hiers (Kathy) of Barnwell, SC, Shelby Kittrell of Cope, SC, Alice Batchlor of Pelion, SC and Deborah Croft (Wayne) of Barnwell, SC. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
