He is survived by: his wife Lore Ann Mitchell Chavis; his children, Donna Churchwell (Franklin) of Blackville, Sarah Zissette of Blackville, Cecil A. Chavis, Jr. (Sharell) of Barnwell and Christopher Roosevelt Chavis of Barnwell; his grandchildren, Ashley Chavis, Kathy Churchwell, Gehry Zissette, Franklin Churchwell, Jr., Breanna Chavis, Adam Chavis, Andrew Chavis, Allison Chavis, Aaron Chavis, Abraham Chavis and Noah Chavis; his great grandchildren, Hunter Churchwell, Brandon Zorn, Amber Marie Foster, Aaron Foster and Allen Lamar Foster; and his siblings, Patricia Hair of Blackville, Kathy Davis (Edward) of Blackville, Jeanette Chavis Driggers of Barnwell, Barbara Carter (Tony) of Barnwell, Shelby Jean Williams (Eric) of Barnwell, O'Neal Chavis (Janet) of Aiken and Earl Chavis of Windsor. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
