He was predeceased by: his father James P. Morris; his former wife Doris Griffin Gilliard; and his siblings, Annette Corne, Lena Mae Smith and Alvn''Hammer Head'' Gilliard.
He is survived by: his children, Tashka Banks (Cecil) of Elberton, GA, Tamara D. Gilliard of Anderson, SC, Patrick Johnson (Rocio) and Rondie Watson of Anderson, SC; his siblings, Ruby Lofton Joe (Doug), Dorothy Prater of Anderson, SC, David Gilliard, John Gilliard, Lucille Lewis of Townville, SC, Mary Ann Cury of Seneca, SC, Jerry Robinson of Brooklyn, NY and Lula Bemberry (Gilbert) of Hampton, VA; and his caregiver Virgina Johnson. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
