He was predeceased by: his parents, B. J. Murphy and Alma Ferguson Murphy; his grandson Trey Bland; his siblings, Jane Wahl and Simmie Murphy; and his pets, Ben and Waylon.
He is survived by: his wife Laura Murphy; his children, Darlene Sullivan (Rick) and Troy Murphy (Carrie) of Aiken; his grandchildren, Tyler Bland (Bridgette), Jacob Murphy (Taylor), Jessica Griffin (Anthony) and Ricky Sullivan (Lexie); and his great grandchildren, Kolton, Jordan Sullivan, Peyton Bland, Tate, Collins and Bowen Murphy.
