She was predeceased by: her husband Hilton Dodge Newman; her parents, Adolphus Smith and Myrtle Seals Smith; her son Hilton Kemp Newman; and her siblings, Gene Smith, Dean Smith, Elizabeth Durden, Jeanette Frost, Winnefred Dowd and Myra Purnell.
She is survived by: her daughters, Brenda Bass (Ronald) of Abbeville, AL and Rana Sullivan (Gary) of Aiken, SC; and her daughter-in-law Mary Evelyn Goodrich Newman of Oakhill, FL.. She is also survived by five grandchildren; six great grandchildren.
