He was predeceased by: his brother Floyd Buchanan of Cashiers, NC.. He is survived by: his wife Ruby Buchanan; and his daughters, Dianne Martin (Lynn) and Debbie Byrd.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org).
