With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Edward F. Upchurch of Warren, Rhode Island, born in Raleigh, North Carolina, who passed away on June 13, 2023 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Melzar Jackson Upchurch of Wake County and Agnes Upchurch (Brett) of Ahoskie; his sister Judy McGhee; his former wife Patricia O'Neill; his wife Sheila Smith (Cross); and his daughter Melissa Mayernik.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Vincent of Seattle, WA, Margaret Brett (Meg) of Lexington, KY, Mary Kathryn (Katy), Peter Gregory, Gretchen Maria and Katy Fickenwirth; his son-in-law Gerhard of Beverly, MA; his grandchildren, Laura Dyas, Paul Fickenwirth and Peter Fickenwirth; his grandson-in-law Sam; his great grandchild Sybil Victoria; his son-in-law Thomas Mayernik (Tom); his granddaughter-in-law Emily Burns (Morgan); his stepson Peter Smith (Annemarie) of West Newbury, MA; his stepgrandson Alexander (Lindsey); his stepdaughter Mandy (Sal); his stepgrandson Anthony; his stepdaughters, Belle and Gretchen Coviello (Nino) of Madison, NJ; his stepgrandchildren, Meredith (Ryan Marchese), Jessica (Matthew Spero) and Michael (Paige); his stepchildren, Nicholas, Melissa Pattie of Providence, RI and Scott Pattie of Bristol, RI; his stepgranddaughter Abigail (Sohail Syed); his stepchildren, Eric (Karolyn Sundberg) and Emma (John Alburger); and also Madilyn Jo. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a fourth great-grandchild.
