He was predeceased by: his parents, John J. Gilroy Jr. and Helen Gilroy (Dillon); and his brother David Gilroy. He is survived by: his wife Donna Gilroy (Banks); his brothers, Paul and Mark Gilroy; and his nieces and nephews, Amanda, Molly, Mark Gilroy Jr., Patrick, Evan, Dane and Chase Gilroy.
