He was predeceased by: his daughter Nina Marceca; his stepdaughters, Alison Wilson and Nora Madden; and his parents, Howard Gardiner Cushing and Mary Ames Cushing.
He is survived by: his wife Nora Knott Cushing; his children, Howard Cushing, Jamie Cushing, Edith Cushing, Katherine Cushing, Cornelia DiPietro and Mary Ames Tollefson; and his siblings, Freddy Cushing, Thomas Cushing and Mary "Minnie" Cushing.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Howard's honor to Groton School and the Newport Art Museum.
