He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Ilda Maria Afonso; his father Antonio Marques Leal; his children, Tony Afonso (Lori) of Connecticut and Maria Magalhaes (Jorge) of Cumberland; his grandchildren, Shanna Magalhaes, Ashley Coughlin and Troy Afonso; his great grandchild Thomas Edward Coughlin IV; and his siblings, Maria Santos, Joao Marques Leal, Antonio Leal, Isac Leal, Domingos Leal and Ana Afonso.
