He was predeceased by: his spouse Marcolina Brizida (Medeiros); his parents, Manuel Brizida and Inocencia Brizida (Lindo); and his siblings, Maria of Estrella Sousa, Rosaria Sousa, Genoveva Sousa Melo, Manuel Brizida, Jacinto Brizida and Elias Manuel Sousa.
He is survived by: his children, Helena Sousa (Jose) of Florida, Fernanda Sousa Vasconcelos (late Jose) of Povacão, São Miguel and Mary Lou Pacheco Sittinger (Dennis O'Brien) of Riverside; his grandchildren, Courtney Hunt, Caitlin Jacques, Molly O'Brien, Teresa, Christina Vasconcelos, Sarah Vasconcelos, Peter Sousa, Patricia Sousa and Jennifer Sousa; and his great grandchildren, Alexander, Lucy Ann, Henrique, Caterina, Joaquim, Brennan, Allison, Jordan and Finn.
