He was predeceased by: his parents, George J. Smith and Amy O. Smith (Griesemer); and his brothers, George W. Smith and Robert D. Smith. He is survived by: his wife Kathryn L. Smith (Barr); his daughter Marcia S. Smith; his close friend Milah Allison of Mohnton; and his son Scott T. (Stephanie).
