He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph A. Mathews and Katherine Mathews (Muller); and his brother William J. Mathews. He is survived by: his cousins, Mary Ann and Cecilia Wenisch; his nieces, Cathy Swallow (Matt) and Eva Mathews Holzwarth (Scott); his great-nieces, April of Pittsburgh and Renee Swallow of Pittsburgh; and his friends, Phil, Sandy, Stephanie, Jim, Kaden and Morgan of Temple.
He retired in 1993 after 25 years with the Caron Foundation.
