He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Robert J. Gretz and Mary Eloise Gretz; his wife Susie; his daughters, Mary Allison (James Gardiner) and Elizabeth; his siblings, Suzanne, Steve and Michael; and his siblings-in-law, Judith Cheston, Cathy Murray (Pete), John Anderson (Vivi) and Sally Hammer. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Jefferson Transplant Institute, select designation for Nicoletti Kidney Transplant Center.
