He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Johnson (Wood) and Floyd Benjamin; his siblings, Robert Benjamin (Janet), Cleone Ellis (Bryon) and Ann Brannen-Overpeck (Charles); and his brother-in-law Carl Curtis.
He is survived by: his wife Laura Alice Benjamin (Sick); his daughters, Tina (Gerald Irvine), Carla (Michael Welliver) and Zannetta (John Rees); his grandchildren, Amanda Evans, Anthony Irvine, Heather Patterson, Eric Patterson, Rhiannon Rees, Tori Bristol and Tara Welliver; his great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Gage Evans, LilyAnn, Benjamin, Connor Sproule, Greyson and Colton Irvine; his sister Margaret; his brother-in-law Richard Bata-McCracken; his brother Jack C.; and his sisters-in-law, Sandy Vanderpool and Leona Curtis. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
