She was predeceased by: her parents, Lucious Stafford and Callie Stafford (Floyd); and her children, Jerome Elder, Dorothy Payton and Sylvia Bennet.

She is survived by: her children, James Elder (Janet), William Elder (Maria), John Elder (Zelda), Patricia Wilson and Gloria Frazier. She is also survived by many grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
