She was loved and cherished by many people including: her daughter Michaela Kiernan PhD; and her sons-in-law, Ashley Gray, Audubon Bluebird, Nuthatch, Whippoorwill, Breeding Bird Atlas and Creek Birding Cups.

“NancyEllen Was a devoted wife and mother. In addition to her successes in those areas, she somehow found time to follow a large number of interests and produce a vast list of accomplishments. I didn't know how vast this list was until now, because she didn't brag about these accomplishments. NancyEllen had a keen and infectious sense of humor. Her passing will leave a huge gap in the lives of those who knew and loved her. My heart goes out to Michael, Michaela, Ashley, and all the Kiernans.”
