She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Gardner and Anna Gardner (Walters). She is survived by: her sister Marlene; her brother-in-law Donald Barron; her aunt Ruth Baker (Ruie); her son-in-law James Groff; her children, Bruce Barron (Terrie) and Robin Barron (James Groff); her brother J. C. Gardner (Jeanette); her grandchildren, Edward (LuAnn), Hope (Robert Short), Tyler and Nathan Groff; and her great grandchildren, Zia, Ariel Short, Megan, Malorie Barron and Loretta.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church of Bakersville or a hospice organization of one's choice.
