He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward McElwee and Mary McGill McElwee; his granddaughter Tara Kellner; his siblings, Edward "Jim" McElwee, Mary Ann Losey and Donna Bosworth; and his brother-in-law Robert Corah.
He is survived by: his children, Patrick M. McElwee (Brenda) of Port Allegany, John R. McElwee (Phyllis) of Port Allegany, Edward P. McElwee of Lewis Run, PA, Sara L. Wilson (Randy) of Emporium and Beth Ann McElwee of Port Allegany; and his sister Betty Corah of Port Allegany. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grand-children.
