Claire Cribben Obituary
Claire Elizabeth Cribben, 86, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Claremont Care Center in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. She was born on May 11, 1932 in Brockton, Massachusetts to the late Thomas and Verna Cahill. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 43 years, John Phillip Cribben and by her sister, Mary Anne White.
Claire was a graduate of Brockton High School and Tufts University. She was a successful business woman, educator, and musician and took great pleasure in her work as high school English teacher in Avon, Mass and later as a Real Estate Agent in Baltimore, Maryland. Among her greatest joys were teaching less fortunate children how to swim as a VISTA volunteer , serving as a PTA president, teaching Sunday School classes and working with the Girl Scouts.
Claire was an accomplished pianist who accompanied a 50 man choir while in college. She enjoyed gardening and flower-arranging, and sailing, skiing, and tennis with her family, Surviving are her four daughters, Beth Newby and her husband Steve of Point Pleasant, New Jersey, Karen Doyle of Canton, Connecticut, Colleen Brown and her husband Bob of Monkton, Maryland, Johnna Goodridge and her husband Stephen of Westchester, Pennsylvania; brother, Thomas Cahill and his wife Kathy of Idaho; grandchildren, Chris, Brian, Katie, Tim, Mike, David, Patrick, Meggie, Sarah and great-grandchildren, Gavin and Annabelle and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but loved and not forgotten.
In accordance with the wishes of the family, cremation took place privately and a Life Celebration and burial will follow at a later date in the National Cemetery Otis Airforce Base in Bourne, Massachusetts.
