He was predeceased by: his parents, Mervin Hivner and Violet Hivner (Bingaman); his siblings, Ronald, George, Patty Egenreider and Connie Garloff; and his son-in-law Todd Turner.
He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Anderson Hivner; his children, Robert E. Hivner, Jr (Patti) of Hummelstown, Christine Turner of Palmyra and Tina Repa of Temple, PA; his grandsons, Nathan Turner of Palmyra, Jeremy Hivner of Watertown, MA, Mitchell Hivner of Easton, PA and Gregory Repa of Temple, PA; and his siblings, Joyce Ralph of Harrisburg, Betty Christian of Palmyra and Donald of Dauphin, PA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
