He was predeceased by: his brother Glenn. He is survived by: his parents, Robert Kuhl and Esther Belle McCormick Briggs; his wife Judy Hancock Briggs; his sons, David A. Briggs, Jr. (Kim N.) and Robert A. Briggs; his stepchildren, Michael L. Nelson (Marsha) of Annville and Amy E. Fasick (Chuck) of Mechanicsburg; his mother-in-law Alice Schaffer of Middletown; and his sisters-in-law, Rhoda Hoffner and Linda Jumper. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
