She was predeceased by: her parents, Raymond Perry and Leona B. Perry Ledger (Vannatta); and her husband Ross Helwig. She is survived by: her children, Diane Helwig of Nazareth, Janice Stutz of Bloomsburg, Cynthia Fletcher of Bloomsburg and Michael Helwig (Judy) of Bloomsburg; and her siblings, James Ledger of Bloomsburg, Robert Ledger of Bloomsburg and Sylvia Hartman of Bloomsburg. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren.
Betty Jean volunteered for the 4-H Club and the American Cancer Society.
