She was predeceased by: her parents, Roosevelt Davis and Alice Davis (Bunnell); her husband Robert A. Hess Sr.; and her sister Rosaline Wendland. She is survived by: her children, Carol Hess of Imperial, NE, Mary Fetter (Paul) of Dalton, PA, Linda Howell (Mike) of Middleburg, PA and Robert; her grandson Jonathan (Rachel Lapidus); her great grandchildren, Emily, Peter, Katie and Lizzie; and her sisters, Henrietta Jean Bentz of Silver Spring, MD and Marguerite "Peg" LaFlesh of Montville, NJ.
