He was predeceased by: his parents, Elam Shelly and Elva Shelly (Metzler); and his brother Kenneth Shelly. He is survived by: his wife Betty A. Shelly; his children, Jeanne Shelly of Lititz and Steven C. Shelly of Kuna, ID; his grandchildren, Erika of Kuna, ID, Courtney of Kuna, ID, Kaitlyn of Kuna, ID and Jake of Kuna, ID; his brothers, Gordon Shelly of Lititz and Barry Shelly of Ephrata; and his nieces and nephews, Terry Mendola (Patrick), Jodi Sandburg of Florida, Keith Shelly (Ana Marie) of Florida and Jeff Shelly (Christina) of California.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Darrell's memory may be made to National Parks Foundation or Defenders of Wildlife.
