He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Thomas McDonald Jr. (Brenda), Edward McDonald (Pamela), Todd McDonald and Terrence McDonald (Mimi); his sister Marie Kowalick; his wife Anne Marie McDonald (Devaney); his son Timothy McDonald; and his parents, Patrick McDonald and Marie McDonald. He was also cherished by 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.
