He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Echternach and Mary Echternach (Kauffman); his wife Joanne (Michaelis); his sons, Jacob III and Joseph "Joe"; and his siblings, Earle Echternach and Elsie Lowry.
He is survived by: his son John (Judy); his daughter-in-law Shirley; his grandchildren, Deborah, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Candice, Eric, Joseph, Megan and Zachary; and his siblings, Robert Echternach (Sandy) and Shirley Snodgrass (Richard). He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
