He was predeceased by: his wife Madeline S. Phillips (Dufft); his parents, Robert D. Phillips and Catherine E. Phillips (Borneisen); his grandson Michael J. Phillips; and his brothers, Richard, Robert and Roy Phillips.

He is survived by: his children, Bernard F. Phillips (Marlene I. Schwoyer), Sinking Spring, Michael P. Phillips, Diana L. Edwards (Phillips) and Lynn M. Phillips; his grandchildren, Ryan T. Phillips, Lauren M. Herring and Matthew D. Herring (Lauren I. Schaeffer); and his sister Rebecca Sell (Phillips). He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
