He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis W. Downey and Evelyn M. Downey (Morgan); his siblings, Virginia Kelly, Jack, Thomas and Ronald Downey; and his stepmother Anna Downey.
He is survived by: his wife Lois Jean Downey (Myers) of Latrobe; his children, Louis W. Downey (Teresa) of Pleasant Unity, Michelle L. Kirik (Downey) of Bethel Park and Richard A. Downey (Nikki) of Latrobe; his grandchildren, Rachelle, Louis H., Christian, Emily, Jakob, Molly, Nickolas and Riley; his great grandchildren, Owen and Hadley; and his siblings, Robert L. Downey (Mary) of New Alexandria and Patricia Stratton of Derry. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
