We are sad to announce that on January 7, 2022, at the age of 87, Harold Hess of James Creek, Pennsylvania, born in Newburg, Pennsylvania passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer D. Hess and Mary A. Hess (Hall); his former spouse Shirley J. Hess (Imler); his siblings, Kenneth Hess, Maxine Hess and Carrie Edna Hess; and his grandchildren, Jeffrey Hess and Farren Hess.

He is survived by: his wife Florence "Sis" M. Hess; his children, LouAnn Shontz (Jim) of James Creek, PA, Jim Hess (Sharon) of James Creek, PA and Jenny DeLaney (Kevin) of McLapin, FL; and his stepchildren, Deb Martin (Scott) of Manchester, PA, Emily Mervin (Bob) of Saxton, PA and John Hess of Houstontown, PA. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

If friends so desire and at the request of the decedent, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Sonny to the Trough Creek Community Church, 19802 Sugar Run Road, Todd, PA 16685 or the Raystown Brethren Church, 129 Winterberry Lane, Saxton, PA 16678.

“Sonny and Sis are not just my dear friends but also like adopted grandparents. I met them at the beginning of my nursing career when I took care of Sonny's mom many years ago. We have had a bond every since. Sonny was always so kind and could always put a smile on your face. I never left their house without getting a hug and I love ya as I left. Sonny held a special place in my heart and I am going to miss him dearly. Thoughts and prayers for Sis and the family.”
