John Homer Shaffer Obituary

We are sad to announce that on October 20, 2021, at the age of 89, John Homer Shaffer of Hyndman, Pennsylvania, born in Mount Savage, Maryland passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Eugene and Carmen Faye Shaffer (Wertz); and his siblings, James Shaffer, Ada Shaffer and Dolores Korns.

He is survived by: his wife Ida J. Shaffer (See); his children, Kay Harden (Kenny), Beverly Upton (Pat), Ronda Moore (Allen), Cindy Leister (Terry), Janet Shroyer (Richard), Mary Ann Leister (Gary) and David Shaffer (Stacy); his grandchildren, Kristy DeHaven (Terry), Keith Harden (Delicia), Brian Upton (Anna), Julie Bishop, Lori Hay (Teddy), Terry Moore (Brandy), Shane Moore (Kimberly), Melissa Robison (Jason "Chip"), Sarah Scritchfield (Derek), Tony Shroyer (Kristy), Andrew Shroyer (Corrie), Gary Leister (Laiken), Zachary Leister (Alyssa Taylor), Jesse Shaffer (Sarah) and Alexa Reese (Lucas); and his brother Shaffer Bros. He is also survived by 29 great grandchildren and 2 more expected and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic services will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made Palo Alto United Methodist Church.
