It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joane Mercuri Butera of Hatfield, Pennsylvania, who passed away on June 13, 2022, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Pietro Mercuri and Pasqualina Mercuri; her husband Angelo Butera; her son Peter F. Butera; and her great grandchild Adam Peter Afflerbach.
She is survived by: her children, Ned Butera (Kathy) of Lewes, DE, RoseMary Gerhart (Robert) of Hatfield, PA and Angelo Butera (Lisa) of Graterford, PA; and her brother-in-law Michael Butera. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.
She made dresses for girls around the world impacted by poverty or natural disasters, and she worked alongside her daughter to make more than 5, 000 masks to give away to those who needed them at the start of COVID.
