She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul E. McDowell and Lila K. Mathews McDowell; her former husband Michael A. Makarsky; her husband Melvin Cooley; her nephew Richard Snell; and her brother-in-law Earl Snell.

She is survived by: her son Mason Paul Makarsky (Leah); her partner Kerry Thompson; her granddaughters, Makayla Patlyn and Macie Elila Makarsky; and her siblings, Kathryn Snell, Paula Striker and Edward McDowell (Lucy).

Visitation was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Kepple Graft Funeral Home (524 N Main St, Greensburg, PA 15601). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Evelyn's granddaughters, for their college fund.
