He is survived by: his wife Ann Emmerling; his brother Thomas (Laura); his siblings-in-law, Rosemary Emmerling, Mary Landkrohn and David August; and his mother-in-law Jean McKenna. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
