He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Farber Shontz and Gertrude Zeigler (Troxel). He is survived by: his wife Charlotte; his sons, Jeff Shontz (Jena) and Ryan Shontz (Devin); his sisters, Michele Samph and Annette Lunny; and his grandchildren, Kensley, Hudson, Stanley and Frankie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ren's name to Coventry Animal Hospital.
