He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Fortner and Florence Fortner Otto (Ginder); his wife Elizabeth Fortner (McClellan); his grandchildren, Christopher Bingaman and Jessica Bingaman; and his brother Clyde Fortner.
He is survived by: his children, Donann Lawson (David) of Frackville, Elizabeth Fortner of Bowie, MD and Thomas Fortner of Joliett; and his grandson Bruce Bingaman of Gilbertsville.
