He was predeceased by: his parents, John D. Monkman and Myrtle L. Monkman; and his siblings, Francis "Frankie" Monkman, Arthur Monkman, Richard Charles "Chummy" Monkman and Kenneth.
He is survived by: his wife Janet E. Monkman; his children, Janet Grzeszkowiak (Rich), Rod Monkman (Cheryl), Catherine "Nadrah" Adam (Sufian), Joseph Monkman, Linda White (Edward) and Emily Monkman; and his siblings, Daisy Benevides (David), Betty Lowe (Alton), David Monkman (Marie) and Frances Self (John). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, and nine great- grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia or Children's Healthcare of Atlanta - Scottish Rite Hospital.
