It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John E. Longenderfer of Emmaus, Pennsylvania, born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, who passed away on May 29, 2020, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Abram Longenderfer and Elizabeth Longenderfer; his wife Carole Ann Longenderfer (Rapp); and his brother Jim Longenderfer of Lancaster, PA.. He is survived by: his girlfriend Sally Reeser; his children, Wendy Longenderfer of Macungie, PA, Mark Longenderfer (Dana) of Richmond, VA, Matthew Longenderfer (Carolyn) of West Chester, PA, Gretchen Clay (Shawn) of Allentown, PA and Michael Longenderfer (Megan) of Breinigsville, PA.; and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Jack, DeWolf, Katherine, Riley, Emily (Madison), Teresa (Samantha Clay) and Sarah (Anna).
Services are private and limited to immediate family due to current COVID-19 restrictions.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are appreciated to PBS 39's Lehigh Valley Reads initiative – a regional literacy campaign to ensure all Lehigh Valley students read on grade level by the end of third grade.
